Strategy For Success: Planning Your Growth

It may come as no surprise that one of the main goals for your marketing is to see growth within your company.  The idea is to spend a dollar to make three more.  If you’ve been failing to reach your goals, it may be time to implement a strong growth strategy for success!

Marketers tend to get busy with internal strategies, emails, and forget that in order to grow and be effective some strategies should not be neglected:

  • Have an attainable goal: There’s nothing worse than working towards the unattainable.  If your normal growth rate is 2%, why set the bar so high as to see a rate of 20%?  A promising growth strategy would have a goal that is realistic and will allow for the other components of marketing to align with to achieve.
  • Don’t forget creativity: If you want more eyes on your marketing campaigns, never let go of the creative bone in your marketing team.  Humor and catchy slogans are sure to capture your target market more effectively.  Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box either, but be tasteful.
  • Be consistent: All of your marketing efforts are helping you to achieve the same goal, therefore it’s smart to make sure that the marketing collateral, campaigns, and branding all flow together to send a cohesive message.  This is an important element of your growth strategy, because without it, you’ll fall apart.
  • Measure performance: What better strategy to take for growth than to measure it.  The most measurable results will be in your digital presence/campaigns.  This growth should also be reflected in your sales numbers too.  See where you were from the beginning and do a side by side comparison each month.
  • Plan ahead: If you know your business is effected by a season or a holiday, don’t wait until the month is here to start your campaign.  If you do, you’re too late and you’ve missed the bus for maximum growth during these months.  Maybe it’s worth doing a marketing plan at the beginning of the year outlining your plan for these months in advance.  That way you’re sure to be ahead of the game.
